Fuel/propulsion System ODI 10938895 12/31/2016

GAS GUSHING OUT WHEN FILLING VEHICLE AT GAS PUMP, THE AUTO SHUT OFF DOES NOT SHUT OFF MANUALLY OR AUTO SHUT OFF. VEHICLE IS STATIONARY, I BELIEVE THIS IS A MANUFACTURERS PROBLEM IN THE GAS TANK PREVENTING THE GAS OVERFLOW. THIS IS A HAZARD. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 47K MILES. THIS HAS HAPPENED THE LAST 4 TIMES PUMPING GAS.

Fuel/propulsion System ODI 10490573 12/31/2012

APPROXIMATELY 5 MONTHS AGO MY 2010 JEEP WRANGLER BEGAN OVERFLOWING AT EVERY FILL UP, SPILLING FUEL ALL OVER THE SIDE OF MY VEHICLE AND THE GROUND. THIS HAD HAPPENED AT DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS AND DIFFERENT TEMPERATIONS, AND NO MATTER HOW SLOW I TRY TO PUMP THE FUEL IT STILL OVERFLOWS. THIS PROBLEM BEGAN ALL AT ONCE AND I NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH IT BEFORE. *TR

Fuel/propulsion System ODI 10490619 12/31/2012

WHEN FILLING UP THE GAS TANK THE FUEL SPILLS OUT AFTER SHUT OFF. APPROXIMATION A CUP TO 2 CUPS WILL BACK SPLASH OUT OF THE TOP AND SPILLS ALL OVER THE JEEP AND GROUND. DOES NOT MATTER WHAT GAS STATION THIS HAS JUST STARTED HAPPENING THE LAST TWO FILL UPS. *TR

Suspension ODI 11292075 12/30/2019

VEHICLE WILL EXPERIENCE UNCONTROLLABLE VIBRATION I.E. DEATH WOBBLE WHEN GOING OVER A MINOR BUMP IN THE ROAD. THE DEATH WOBBLE CAN LAST FROM 20 YARDS TO 100 YARDS DEPENDING ON THE SPEED AND TERRAIN. THIS BEGAN TO HAPPEN ABOUT 1 YEAR AGO AND HAS BEEN MORE FREQUENT RECENTLY OCCURRING ABOUT ONCE PER WEEK. THE DATE BELOW IS THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE.

Air Bags ODI 11164124 12/30/2018

AIR BAG LIGHT TURNS ON INTERMITTENTLY DURING VEHICLE OPERATION, MEANING THE AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IF THERE'S A COLLISION. SUSPECTED COMPONENT FAILURE IS THE CLOCKSPRING. THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS ON OTHER YEARS OF JEEP WRANGLERS FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT NOT 2010 TO MY KNOWLEDGE.

Questions

FAQ

Is the 2010 Jeep Wrangler reliable?
Owners have filed 686 safety complaints with NHTSA for the 2010 Jeep Wrangler, most often about fuel/propulsion system. Compare the complaint counts across model years above — a year with far more complaints than the model's average is the strongest 'avoid' signal in public data.
Which Jeep Wrangler years should I avoid?
The rule of thumb used by analysts: a model year whose complaint count is well above the model's own average (we flag 2× or more) usually had a real manufacturing or design problem — not just noisy reporting. Use the year-by-year strip on this page.
Where do these complaints come from?
Directly from NHTSA, the US government road-safety agency. Any owner can file a Vehicle Owner Questionnaire; NHTSA publishes them as public domain data. We cache each lookup for up to 7 days.
Do complaints mean a recall is coming?
Sometimes. NHTSA opens defect investigations when complaint patterns emerge, and investigations can end in recalls. Check the recalls page for this vehicle to see what has already been recalled.
