Privacy Policy

Overview
Live Accident Tracker ("we", "us") operates https://liveaccidenttracker.com. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit, and how we use it. Short version: we collect almost nothing.
Information we collect
- Server logs. Like nearly every website, our hosting provider records standard access logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) for security and performance. These are automatically rotated and are not used to identify individuals.
- Contact form. If you contact us, we receive the name, email address and message you choose to send. We use it only to reply.
Information we do NOT collect
- No account registration, no passwords, no payment data.
- No sale or sharing of personal data with third parties.
- No tracking cookies set by us.
Third-party services
- Map tiles are served by CARTO / OpenStreetMap; your browser requests tiles directly from their servers, which see your IP address (see their privacy policies).
- Fonts are served by Google Fonts.
- News links on our live feeds open the original publisher's website, which has its own privacy policy.
Accident reports you send us
If you use the report an accident form, we store what you enter (date, place, description, optional source link, optional email) and any photos or videos privately on our server. Only the site editor can see them. We use them to check and, where verified, write about the accident; we never publish your email address, and we publish your files only if you ticked the box allowing it — and never images showing injured people, faces or readable number plates. A one-way hash of your IP address that changes daily is kept for up to two hours to limit abuse. Ask us through the contact page to remove a report you sent.
Weekly email digest
If you subscribe to the weekly digest, we store your email address, when you subscribed and confirmed, and which weekly issue you last received. We send one confirmation email and then one email a week. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops all emails at once. We never share or sell the list.
Analytics and advertising
We count a small set of anonymous usage events on our own server — for example that a filter was applied on a city crash explorer, that a crash record was opened, or that a source link was clicked — so we can see which tools are useful. No cookie is set for this, and no IP address, browser details or identifier is stored: each event is added to a daily total together with the page path and at most three short, fixed labels (such as the city name or the filter type). To stop a single client from inflating the totals, a one-way hash of the IP address that changes every day is held for up to 20 minutes inside that day's file and is never linked to the events. If we add third-party analytics or advertising (for example Umami Cloud, Google Analytics or AdSense), this policy will be updated first, and any required consent mechanisms will be added at the same time.
Data requests
To ask what data we hold about you, or to request deletion of contact-form correspondence, email admin@liveaccidenttracker.com.
